To realize
The value of a sister/brother
Ask someone
Who doesn't have one.

To realize
The value of ten years:
Ask a newly
Divorced couple.

To realize
The value of four years:
Ask a graduate.

To realize
The value of one year:
Ask a student who
Has failed a final exam.

To realize
The value of nine months:
Ask a mother who gave birth to a stillborn.

To realize
The value of one month:
Ask a mother
Who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize
The value of one week:
Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize
The value of one minute:
Ask a person
Who has missed the train, bus or plane.

To realize
The value of one-second:
Ask a person
Who has survived an accident.

Time waits for no one.
Treasure every moment you have.
You will treasure it even more when
You can share it with someone special.

To realize the value of a friend or family member:
LOSE ONE.

The origin of this letter is unknown,
But it brings good luck to everyone who passes it on.

Remember....

Hold on tight to the ones you love!

Do not keep this letter.

Send it to friends & family to whom you wish good fortune
And don't forget the one who sent it to you!

I got this from an e-mail a long while ago. Thought I would pass it on!

Coffee-Beef Soup

Yep. That was our dinner. Coffee and beef soup. Much compliments to the chef, my two year old brother Galdor. Mom was making the soup in our crock pot when he flung in her cup of coffee.

Well, I'm a big fan of coffee. We'll just see the effects of the caffeine on the younger kids later...at right around bedtime.

The main reason I posted was to draw your attention to a lovely blog called idream. It's by one of my BFFs in real live, igirl, and she's looking for some more followers for her blog's birthday! Go and follow her! I command it. Just kiddin'. I'd appreciate it though. =)

Sometimes all you can do is laugh...

Ha-ha-ha. Galdor figured out that he can climb out of his crib. Know what that means? A two year old running around downstairs at 5:30 AM? Parties with Luthien in the middle of the night? No nap-time? Yes! Oh, isn't this so funny? I'm just laughing my head off!

:/

But really. Sometimes all you can do is laugh at what life gives you. Galdor's so sweet, I'd rather have him then my sanity. HAH-HA-HA-HAH!

Maybe I'll laugh at the poison ivy on my foot. I must have just brushed a plant, because it's just on my ankle. Usually it goes all the way up to my neck. But at least it's not in between my fingers...now that is torture.

Dad's bump turned out to be benign! Now if only his PET-scan tomorrow has the same results. (Please Lord, please Lord, please Lord, please Lord...)

Hugs & Blessings,

My Mom

Moms work a 24/7 shift. Whether they want to or not. They don't get vacations.

My mom cooks 3 meals a day, every day. She home schools us, too. She's one of my role-models. She's changed my diapers when I was little, and now she buys my clothes and pays for piano lessons and all that other good stuff. Let's face it...without mom, I would be...uh...in a pretty bad way. As in non-existent.

LET'S GIVE THREE CHEERS FOR MOTHERS!

funny pictures-MOM LOVES YOU

Lol.

Literary Parents: Pros and Cons

I've had a discussion with a couple of my friends about parents of our main character (MC). There are good things about parents in your books, and there can be bad things. First, the good stuff.

1. Having good, helpful parents can be very un-cliche. In most books you'll find that the main characters are orphans. Examples are Eragon, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Fly by Night.

2. Sometimes, if a character has parents they are unfortunately portrayed in a very bad light, as in 'holding the character down' and stuff. It's a very bad stereotype, not to mention a lie. It's a mold that needs to be broken, and having good parents is the perfect way to do it!

3. Parents can provide another side to your MC. If your MC has a very strong relationship with their dad, it will be more touching if something happens to their dad. Therefore, your reader will feel more with your character.

Then the negatives.

1. Parents, as bad as it may sound, can tie down the MC. After all, it would be easier to have your character race around Washington DC with evil gangsters chasing them without having to wonder, 'And where are their parents?' Do you know what I mean?

2. It's more exciting for you MC to be orphaned. It adds another element. Without parents to protect and provide, your character is on their own.

3. You might feel more sorry for the character if their parents have been murdered by an evil organization.

I personally prefer to have parents in my books. In my NaNoWriMo novel, Elizabeth's mom and dad are divorced. (SPOILER--if you want to be surprised if you ever read my book, skip over this part) I'm planning on having them back together by the end of the trilogy. (END OF SPOILER)

Besides, my dad is my proofreader, and if my MC is anti-parent without reform, I might get a talking to! Jk, lol.

But seriously, when I'm a mom, I wouldn't really want my kids to read a book where the parents are depicted as a hindrance and 'holding the character down'.

You know you're loved...

...when your littlest brother starts dumping water on your head.

...when you get so much help in feeding your new pet turtle (yes, we have a pet!) that it's overwhelming.

...when your not-so-little brother starts jabbering away to you as soon as he climbs in the car.

...when you can't go outside without little siblings following you.

...when you can't find a moment of peace to write.

...when your room is a wreck because your mom and dad supply you with clothes.

...when there is no laundry on the dining room table because your angelic great-grandma folded it all for you.

I'm so loved!

What happened to global warming?!?

The amount of snow we've been getting is ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!!! And you'll never guess--we're supposed to get 10-20 inches more tomorrow!

It was really interesting to see our different reactions to this news.

Dad's reaction: Shocked

Mom's reaction: Thumbs Down

My reaction: Bounce

Galdor's reaction: Baby Smiley

Erestor's reaction: Roll

Luthien's reaction: Drooling Bouncy Smiley

Okay. That might not have been Luthien's EXACT reaction...but you get the picture. Lol.

Sisters

Got some great pictures of Luthien while we were watching 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' together. Unlike me, she has dark blue eyes and blond hair. Really gorgeous.

I really enjoyed watching the movie with Luthien, especially because we rarely get a lot of 'sister time' together. Understandable--there's an eight year age difference between us, and we are about as different as sisters get. Kind of like Blanche and Rose from 'Shadow of the Bear'. It was really great, and there were times when we were both laughing hysterically and rolling around on the couch. I almost fell off once ;)

Anyway, I was talking about 'sister time'. I like to say to myself that I'm not like the 'typical American girl' because I'm close to ALL of my siblings. BIG FAT LIE!! I'm not. A few months ago, I realized that Luthien and mine relationship was most definitely not at it's strongest point.

I could simply wave it off--after all, we're completely different!

But then I realized that having weak relationships in the family is an open invitation for Satan. And it is! Siblings are supposed to grow together, talk together, share things, and build each other up. Not fight, bicker, tattle-tale, etc.

Right now, we aren't as close as we should be. But we're trying to work on it.

Thank you all, if you read all the way to the end, for listening to my pointless rambling. :)

P.S. My wrists are doing better at the moment! That could have something to do with the what-ever-you-call-it..ibuprofen that I took a short while ago.

Christmas is over.

We lit all five candles in our advent wreath on Christmas Eve, and then went to church. Our associate pastor talked about the wise men and how their display of faith was probably one of the greatest in the Bible. They actually followed a star--a STAR!! How many people would leave their country because of a star?!--and followed it all the way to a tiny town to kneel before a little baby. Ever wondered if you, in their place, would have done that?

Okay, now on to gifts.

All of my presents were given with love, so I can't choose a favorite. One pair of grandparents gave me (among other things) a laptop! I have been dreaming of one for a loooong while.

Then my mom gave me a Celtic Tinwhistle in the key of D! I can play it very well already! If blogger cooperates (it's been giving me trouble with videos lately) I can show you a video of me playing. You also might finally get a glimpe of my face.

Then my grandma gave me a new camera! One step up from the first one.

Erestor gave me a Bionicle--Mata Nui, to be exact.

And there was COFFEE SOAP!!!! This is from my friend at church. Since she appears on my blog so much, I'll give her a name. Now she will be called...Herenya. Okay, so Herenya gave me a bunch of things, but among those was coffee soap.

Those were just a few things among so many others, and thank you very much for all of them! (if you happen to read my blog, grandparents and relatives and Herenya!)

Soon I'll maybe show you a really cool picture of the advent wreath that I got.

Oh, also, and I have two prayer praises.

One, we had relatives over last night that kind of...well, you know relatives. But thankfully everyone was really nice! We actually had some very good talks about Christianity.

Two, Dad is doing really well! He didn't seem very exhausted last night, although he's sleeping in today. This is kind of a prayer request mixed in: he has ten pounds to gain, and he's going to have a PET scan on the 1st of January. PLEASE pray that there's no more cancer.

So Merry Christmas, y'all!
