It's been a while...

So, how are you all? Do you remember me? It's been a matter of weeks since I've posted!

The first reason for my lack of posts is that I really don't have that much time! (I think just about everyone has that problem). Juggling my jobs, chores, schoolwork, writing, and blogging has been kind of tough. That is because I can't juggle three balls, let alone five. It's just to be expected that I drop a ball. Thankfully, unlike real juggling I had a choice as to which ball I should drop. Blogging hit the floor with a resounding thump.

The second is that I haven't been able to think up anything to post about. Now that I'm on Traveling Tales, I'm not posting writing tips on this blog anymore, and I'm kind of at a loss for what exactly my blog should be about. My life is so boring that I'm sure that no one wants to hear endless posts about it, but sometimes it feels really good to just sit and type about my life.

(Peter just walked by the computer room, completely drenched, holding a soccer ball. Our eyes met and an instant telepathic bond was formed. The translation of the message that was transmitted: my brother is crazy.)

I'm actually happy. =) I'm starting to rewrite my first NaNoWriMo book. It's tough, because I'm so used to first draft jot-down-whatever-trash-pops-into-your-head-first type of writing. But now, on a second draft, I'm actually spending some time editing stuff I've just written. And I'm actually satisfied with my writing style. I can see that it's grown so much from two years ago. I know that it'll keep growing and that two years from now I'll look on it and pronounce it garbage, but I know I'm progressing.

The story line is changing a bit. Before it was super cliche (partly because I had just watched Lord of the Rings and was completely obsessed over it). Honestly...I even had something very, very close to Ringwraiths in my book. Now it's starting to look really original. Like it's my very own. *happy sigh* I love you, book.

I hope this post was worth your time clicking over. =) I'll try to write something even more substantial later this week, but now I have targets just waiting for me to nail with arrows! *happy sigh* I love you too, archery.

I'm an archery veteran!

No, not really. Well, sort of. I only have one award...but I've been in archery for one year. We had orientation yesterday, and a whole bunch of new kids were there.

I can't believe I was one of them a year ago. They were all holding their bows with their shoulders hunched up and their string not pulled back to their nose...and all of my friends tell me that was how I shot a year ago. Wow.

It was chaos, too. All of us veterans were running (not really running, more like walking briskly) around, finding bows and arrows and arm-guards and whether or not people were left or right eye dominant.

But it was really fun!

Archery and History

My, today was quite the day! First off, we started history (we haven't started math and all that yet). We're doing the Tapestry of Grace program for the first time ever and we're doing a lot with it. I'm reading five or six books for history right now, and I have all these checklists and stuff like that. We did a salt map (made of salt, flour, water, and I think something else that I forgot. Then you spread it out on cardboard and make mountains and peninsulas and mesas and archipelagos, and all that stuff). I did a map of Sarea, which is where the book that I'm hoping to publish once I've got it done takes place. Did that count as a run on sentence?

Sorry, my mind is really mixed up right now. It's sort of late, so everything jumbled. Excuse me if I start getting off track.

See? I just did it. Getting off track, I mean. Anyway, and then we did outdoor archery. It was unnaturally chilly for August today, and my sights kept on sliding. Finally I just replaced a bolt, and after that I scored 8's and 9's. No 10's, unfortunately.

Archery!

I did outdoor archery tonight, and got 122 points in 11 rounds! That is very good for me, especially since the last time I did archery a month or two ago, I was getting 50 or so per ten rounds. I guess I still do have a chance of becoming an Elven archer, after all!

P.S. In getting 122 points, I also beat Sir Wallace (hee-hee). He didn't break 100.

Guns, Archery, and Stuff

Just got back from shooting guns tonight. I do that, and archery, through a local 4-H club called Trigger Time (I know, it's not the best name, but it's actually much less juvenile than it sounds :). If you ask me (don't bother, I'll just tell you anyway) I'd say I prefer archery. I'm one of the people who keeps on hoping that someday they'll find a way to get into this fantasy world, and what would be more useful then, gun-shooting, or archery? And archery's just so more...cooler. The guns make that 'bang' sound and they're really not that great for stealth missions. And I'd much prefer to wear an arm-guard, finger-tab, and quiver then a set of glasses. That get all foggy when it's hot out.
