Yeah, a little early. But hey, I missed you guys!
So...I have been pretty productive. Got up to chapter 2 (yes, I'm just chugging along...not) on the re-write of Sarea, which now has a new working-title! I'll refer to it as Healing from now on.
It was really funny, though. You know how Healing is a total re-write of a rather cliche book I wrote almost exactly a year ago? Well, although the plot was bad, I was very proud of my characters. But last night, I realized...I was leaving three of my original characters out!! AAAAHHHH!! Including Leela, who I am SO attached to! Yeah, but now I put them in the outline real quick, so the emergency is over. Lol.
And also, I've been hoping that I'll have a chance to revise The Elandai Series. I posted a few chapters for my 1st blogging anniversary, but I would really like to get in touch with Ben and Kaela again.
Thanks for praying about the attacker dude. I haven't heard any updates or anything (we're usually the last people to hear about it in our neighborhood) but so far nothing serious has happened, I think.
Another prayer request/praise...I managed to injure my neck and back while on one of my BFF'S trampoline. Yes, I'm a Blondie at heart. No offense to the blond-haired people out there! Lol. But it wasn't as serious as it could have been, and even though I couldn't shoot that night it's been getting better by the day!
Oh...and I found out that I'm doing an archery competition next week. Gulp. And I'm doing an air-rifle competition later in April--the one that qualifies for STATES!!!!!!!!!! Help. Me. Please. Because I know that everything that can possibly go wrong for me will! See the above paragraph!
I went over to igirl's house last week and had a ton of fun! They managed to conquer my un-photogenic-ness enough to get some really cool pictures of moi! Igirl's sister is, like, a camera genius. And igirl, you did a terrific job with the hair!
Hmmm...I was going to say something, but I forgot. Don't you ever have that feeling?
I have read a good deal of books over my break. Book #2 of the Hunter Brown series (review coming soon, maybe?) because I couldn't find the first one. Re-read Inkheart. And so on.
Oh! Now I remember what I was going to say! I'm going to try and bring back the writing tips! I'll post random ones sometime soon, and then I'll do...drum-roll please...
*drum-roll*
Torture Tips! By special request by Catherine Morland! For characters, of course. Not for little brothers. Just wanted to clarify that. Lol.

Urgent Prayer Request
Hi! Yes, it's me. Break has been going awesome! I've already killed off two major characters in the prologue! Lol. And I've been teaching Maethar to read...and he does NOT like it. Crazy character here, and can you guess where he gets it from? The author. Me. Yap, I'm crazy.
Anyway...my prayer request.
There has been a sudden climb in assaults right around where we live. As a matter of fact, a very brave fifteen year old young lady just barely avoided it--within walking distance of our house. Like, maybe a mile or less.
So, yes, we are a little freaked out right now, to say the least. I haven't run in a long time because I run alone, and there's a particular stretch where there are no houses and it's sheltered by trees and bushes. The rapist is basically a mastermind; he's known to study the schedule and lifestyle of his victim.
I'm usually not that scared of this stuff, but for some reason I'm a wee bit paranoid.
Can you guys please pray for safety, and for me not to be scared of my shadow? Healthy fear would be nice, but phobia is not something I want.
Oh, and it would rock if you could pray for the rapist's salvation.
Thanks so much,
Izori

Yeah, I know, but this is URGENT
Yes, yes, I'm supposed to be on break. But I just realized...on Sunday the Health Care Bill will be voted for.
Please, please pray that it isn't! The Democrats are trying to do all of these tricks to get it through, which is plain unconstitutional. This bill will mean free Health Care! Yay...SO not. I have a friend from Belarus, which has free dentist care. She stayed at our house for six weeks for two summers in a row. She had SO many cavities, they actually had to REMOVE a good deal of her teeth. And I remember that they had holes all the way through them. Yes, she had FREE HEALTH CARE!!
Not only that, but the bill becoming law means that, to put it plainly, old people who need medical help will be murdered because 'there's no use for them', unborn babies will be murdered because 'it's better for them', and the government will be deciding who 'needs medical care' and 'who doesn't'.
PLEASE pray, even everyone who doesn't live in the U.S. I know many people, myself and my dad included, who might be affected for the worst if the Health Care Bill is passed!
Thanks!

Our St. Patrick's Day Adventure and Announcement
OMGoodness! The Celtic Woman Concert was amazing! They all have absolutely spectacular voices! We got to hear 'Danny Boy', 'Dulamon', 'Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears', 'Galway Bay' and more! I had no IDEA Lynn could be so funny! She was absolutely HILARIOUS! Compared to Chloë, she's more reserved and quiet, but I never knew that she was a comedian! And she sang 'Dulamon', which I've always considered Mèav's song but she did an astounding job.
Oh, and you should have seen Maìrèad twirl ten times in the center of the stage really fast, and then leap really high...holding a fiddle. She's amazing.
And we also saw 'At the Ceili'. It's a very interesting song about three lassies who go find men. Surprisingly, it was one of my mom's favorite songs! ;)
All of the songs were wonderful, and all of the girls looked like they were having so much fun! Seriously, it made ME want to go up there, too. And then we got to sing along to 'Spanish Lady'.
So in short we HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST!! Almost as much as the performers were! lol. No really, they looked like they were enjoying themselves sooooooooo much. That is one of the things I like about them--they enjoy performing.
Afterward, outside the famous bagpiper (I absolutely LOVE the bagpipes!) played for everyone to take pictures of and to listen to. We listened to him for a little (he played very well).
Ah, but the night couldn't be complete without a wee fiasco.
After the performance (it ended at ten at night, but it went over, I believe) Mom and Luthien and I walked all the way from where they were doing it to the parking garage. Luthien was really sleepy, and I was feeling kind of tired too.
So when we got to the car, we were both waiting for mom to unlock it. Mom was digging around in her purse, but she couldn't find the keys! (Yeah, we were all like, 'uh-oh...') The only place we could think of where we left them is the performance area. Yep, way up high in the seats, maybe in between two of them...the keys were black so it would take a longish time to find them.
That is, if we got there before they closed the building.
Actually we didn't. We got there right after it closed. But then the guys inside opened the doors for a lady who was also going to look for something, and Mom seized the chance to ask him real quick if we could go in and look.
"Oh, you're missing car keys?" he asked, and then described them perfectly.
"Why, yes! That's them!" Mom exclaimed as the man pulled a set of keys out of the lost-and-found box. And so after thanking him we raced out of there as fast as we could go, without asking how on earth did he find them!
It was only after we were walking back to the car (at over eleven o'clock PM) that we began to wonder how he found them. We still have never figured it out, but we probably never will.
All I can say is that it was a St. Patrick's Day Miracle.
Okay...so we've determined that St. Patrick is the saint of Ireland and car-keys. :)
And my announcement...
I have decided to take a small Easter break from blogging. I haven't had time to write anything except a script in a long while, and I would like the time to do that. I will probably come back a week after Easter. And by gone, I mean gone. I won't even check on it or moderate comments (although still feel very free to comment!). Usually, if I don't post I'll at least look at other people's blogs, but I'm not going to do that. Also, I'm hoping to cut down on my computer time.
So, Happy Easter in advance!

A Mish-Mash
Contents:
Remember that time when I said that I'd stop reading the Inheritance Cycle for a while because of Roran and Katrina's adultery in Brisingr (and a little in Eldest, too)?
I'm actually hoping to get Eragon out of the library again. There wasn't any adultery in it, and it was actually my favorite book out of all of them. By the time I've finished that, I think I'll be mature enough to maybe start Eldest, and eventually Brisingr back up again.
Brisingr was actually the best written out of all of them, in my opinion. Except, of course, for Roran and Katrina's adultery. That was unnecessary to the plot (or if it was, like maybe their kid will become the next Dragon Rider or something, Paolini could have easily gotten around it by simply having Roran and Katrina marry in Eldest) and it was discussed in so much of the book. What's more, it wasn't really considered wrong. In Brom and Salina's case it was actually excused by stating that they 'considered' themselves married.
But yeah, other than that Brisingr was well-written.
Eldest was my least favorite. Arya was just...snobby. In Brisingr she was, like, my favorite character because she was so much more reachable. Not quite so made out of stone, which isn't how I imagine Elves at all. In Eldest, all of the Elves were made out of stone. Not to mention SOOO blind. They're athiests?! And they saw a miracle. Good grief. Also, Eragon managed to humiliate himself in just about every chapter, starting from asking about Arya's age!
Eragon was very good. Nothing really immoral that I could remember, and I could relate to Eragon the most. In Eldest and Brisingr he was an adult, but in this he's a kid (well, not quite a kid, but whatever).
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the Inheritance Cycle. Now onto part 2, my piano student.
You know, I'm in a mood for writing. I'm going to describe this charming young angel masquerading as a piano student in 1st perspective story-style. Just to practice, y'know.
My heart was knocking in my ribs as I clutched the bundle of piano books, and I felt like cold sweat was trickling down my back. Could these steps belong to the same porch that I had ran up merrily to ask if my friend could play? I wouldn't have been surprised if they didn't.
'Oh, Lord,' I silently prayed before giving a fateful push at the doorbell. 'Please, please, PLEASE let everything to go okay! Just don't let me make a total fool of myself...and please make it so that I don't have to put on the 'frumpy old teacher' act!' I totally didn't want this to interfere with our friendships.
Almost as soon as I rang the doorbell, the sound of stampeding buffalo emitted from behind the door. In 'annoyed Bilbo' fashion, the door popped open like a cork...only it wasn't a hobbit that opened it, and she certainly wasn't annoyed.
Of course, Lizzie [name changed because, well, it's the Internet, people!] could have passed for a hobbit. She's short, strongly built, and has light brown curly hair and chipper green eyes. Her face is almost literally glowing as she gushes, "Oh! Yes! You're here!" Turning, Liz shouts, "Mom! Izori's here!"
I wasn't surprised that my hands were shaking as I unzipped the packed that Liz's new piano books came in. My pupil sat demurely, hands folded in her lap, watching me. The only excitement she showed came from her eyes, which could have passed for spoon-tops.
I set the book in front of her. "Okay, Liz, let's get started here--" I paused to keep my voice strong. Was I as excited as her? Oh, most definitely.
Twenty minutes past by in a whirlwind, and in twenty minutes a new future musician was introduced to the quarter note. I had taught my first piano lesson.
Yep, I was THAT nervous a week ago! I have played piano for 8 years...and Liz is about that old, give or take. I was old enough to remember her baptism. She's also one of my many BFFs (along with her older sister). I just taught her for the second time today. It went WONDERFULLY!!! I am SOOOOO proud of Liz! She is such an eager student, and she's learning much faster than I ever did.
Also, the quiz and caption contest were supposed to end today. I didn't have many entries, so I'm continuing them until the 23rd of March. Click HERE to get to the quiz, and click HERE to get to the Caption Contest. Be sweet if you entered!
Ah, and another holiday is almost upon us! It's ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!! Almost. Whatever. Anyway, I'm one of the, like, millions who has prominent Irish ancestry, and I'm also very Irish at heart. Hey, I even have an Irish name! So, anyway, that explains the temporary background change. Tomorrow we're having an Irish dinner and we're seeing Celtic Woman live! Yee-haw!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wow! All of these comments! They're making my day(s)! Yay!!!!! Mucho gracias!
Guess what! For an early (super early) birthday present...my mom and Luthien are taking me to see a Celtic Woman performance! YES!!! How sweet of them! I wish Meav and Orla would be there, though. Both of them are completely opposite and they both have completely amazing voices. However, I'll see Lisa and Chloe and Mairead (as well as Lynn and Alex, but I have to say that I don't like them as much).

Writer's Daybook and a monologue on comments
My goodness, this week was hectic! Teaching for the first time, posting SOOO many times, schoolwork, trying to get outside and enjoy the lovely weather before it vanished into today...today was supposed to be the day when I posted the story about a dignified dragon, a prince who thinks he's a kangaroo, a crazy sea captain, and a modern girl. However, I'm nowhere near done with it and it's turning out to be rather long. For some odd reason I can't write short stories anymore! It's really frustrating. So I might post it next week or next month.
Okay! The blog anniversary thingy is over now! Y'all can come out from where you've been hiding at! However, the Caption Contest and the Quiz don't end until the 16th (you can find both of those on my archive on my sidebar. I can't link because Blogger is acting up). I've had only one entry for both of them...combined.
Which leads me to my wee monologue.
Have I told you guys how much I LOOOOOOVE comments? Yeah, I probably have. However, I've been getting a comment-drought here (except for a few faithful friends :) . Maybe it's because I've been driving everyone away with the posts every single day for a week (lol). But I know I've been getting a decent amount of visitors from four different countries. And comments make my day. Seriously. They really do.
And the Writer's Daybook thingy...
I'm going to make this interesting. I'll have one of my favorite male characters from my book answer these questions.
*drumroll please*...Maethar!
Maethar: *from the writing room* What? Aw, come on! I was trying to sleep in!
Izori: *disappears into writing room, comes out hauling Maethar by the back of the shirt*. That's too bad, dude. *plops him into computer chair* Now TYPE!!
Maethar: What?!
Izori: TYPE!! ANSWER THE QUESTIONS!! Ahem. You have two minutes.
Maethar: Help. Please.
Oh, fine. This is me, Maethar. It's very nice to meet you all...*cough* not really *cough*.
Izori: AHEM!! Maethar, don't be rude to my blogging buddies. Or that's thirty seconds off of your two minutes. Which are going away pretty quickly.
What time is it...10:12 AM
I'm feeling...annoyed. And hauling me here by the back of my shirt kind of hurt.
Outside is...rain. Rain is...wet. Yuck. Can you sense my enthusiasm?
Today I...got hauled here by the back of my shirt. Which hurt. But maybe Izori's going to finally write me into her story again, which could make up for it. Maybe.
I am hearing...Izori's watch ticking.
I am hoping...THAT I FINISH THIS UNDER TWO MINUTES!!!!! AAAAAAHHHH!
I'm looking forward to...being done with this all.
I am glad that...my death will be short if I take too long.
What I'm currently working on writing-wise...saving my neck.
What I just finished reading...uh, I can't read.
What I'm hoping to read...I can't read.
Writing buddy who I talked to last...Izori talked to igirl recentlyl.
Writing tip of the week...Izori, what's a writing tip? Oh...don't treat your characters badly. As in haul them around by their shirts. They might mutiny.
Number of words I wrote this week...none.
What time is it...10:17
Izori: *gasp* You took five minutes! FIVE MINUTES!!! You slowpoke!
Maethar: *gasp* Help!
Izori here again...do you see what I have to put up with? Lol.

The Quiz About...well, you'll see what it's about
Sorry I posted two times today. The tag by Cornet Crazie I actually meant to schedule to come out later...whoops. Oh well, I don't really care either way.
Oh, and on Tuesday I taught the little girl. It went really smoothly! I have never, EVER seen her so serious and concentrated! And I'm really glad that she liked it so much--I pretty much hated piano after the first few lessons. I think.
Also, I think that this blogging anniversary thingy is been a lot about me. This time, I think I'll do a quiz about what kind of season people would be if they were seasons.
Note: this wasn't based off of anything professional. Just my own stuff thought up in under fifteen minutes. :)

Yeah, only five questions. Comment what your answers were (make it clear what number the question was, and what letter your answer was) , and then I'll post the results on the...16th of March. That's the same day when I'll be posting the winner of my caption contest. By the way, only igirl has entered the caption contest. Click HERE to get to it!!

I was tagged a while ago...
by the Cornet Crazie! I've already done this tag, but it's one of those kinds that you can do over and over again and get different results.
The rules: grab a book (the nearest book to you). Turn to page 123. Go to the fifth sentence and post the next five sentences.
"When we did it, we traveled from there to here, anyway, to near here, to the Rinnar Heights. It's almost the same thing."
"And how long did it take you to travel by your own puny feet?" Vulcanus asked.
"We didn't go by foot. We rode on the backs of reindeer." Vulcanus spread both wings and started up a one-bird croaking chorus. The children guessed that he was laughing.

An Effort at Being...what's the word?
Tuesday, March 9, 2010
1-2 Chapters of the first book that I posted on here. And another prayer request (s)
Yep, a genuine sample of the Elandai series. I haven't looked it over yet (I'm just basically copying and pasting--I'm in a HUGE hurry today!)
But before that, I'd like to ask for prayer for my mom's uncle. He has some health issues, and they may have (or will have, or already have) to amputate some of his foot. I just hear snatches from phone calls, so I just know that it's sort of serious.
And another one...my uncle was hit by a car about a year ago, and now he's paralytic. However, he's lost the use of one or more of his hands rather recently, because of something they forgot in a surgery. He's in a lot of pain, so please pray for him. The good thing about it is that it brought him to Christ!
------------------------------------
Ben Wilson woke with a start as his alarm clock suddenly blared. he groggily blinked and squinted at the clock. It read 6:00 AM.
Six AM? Why--oh, I forgot. I promised Kaela that we'd get up early and go exploring. The Wilson's had just moved into their house, which backed to woods. Ben and his sister, Mikaela (or Kaela, as everyone called her) had lived in the city all their lives and were willing to get up early to see what adventures the forest contained.
He jumped as he heard a clock go off in the room next to his. That would be Kaela's alarm. Her clock was exactly thirty seconds later than his. Ben quickly dressed and then went down to the kitchen, only to find his sister had beat him there. She was very punctual, even though she was nine, four years younger than him.
"Mom left bagels out for us." Kaela told him. "With cream cheese and jam, too."
Ben licked his lips. "We can always depend on Mom to feed us well." he remarked, and then plopped down at his seat. Kaela sat down across from him and spread her bagel with a thick layer of cream cheese. Ben and her were alike not only in their love of bagels, but also in coloring. Both had blond hair, though Kaela's was more dark, and blue eyes. They were both 'string-beans' as some people call long and thin people.
Ben was reaching for the jam when he noticed a piece of paper lying on the table. He picked it up and noticed it was from Mom. It read:
Ben and Kaela,
Have fun out in the woods and remember to cross the creek. Go left on the big path until you get to a ford. Cross there.
Love,
Mom
Ben read it out loud to his sister. She cocked an eyebrow and looked at him. "Why does Mom specifically want us to cross the creek? She even gave us directions to get there!"
"Well, maybe there's something really neat over there. She did live here when she was a kid, and she could have explored yesterday when we were at Grandma and Grandpa's."
"True," pondered Kaela. "But she talked a lot about the cliffs and the caves." she gulped down the rest of her orange juice. "C'mon, Ben, let's go already. We'll find out why when we get there."
The siblings raced out the back door and looked at the woods for a moment from their backyard. The woods was in two layers, the first was more sparsely wooded, but had a lot of long grass. The other one, which was further back, was more thick. They were separated by a large dirt path that was half overgrown with grass.
They scrambled through the grasses of the first layer to get to the path. When they reached there, Ben stopped for a moment to breathe in the fresh morning air. A solitary bird twittered from a branch on the skirts of the deep woods.
"Hurry up, Ben!" ordered Kaela starting down the path to the left. "Don't you want to find out what's on the other side of the creek?"
"Hold, on. I'm trying to find out which way is north. Let's see, there's the sun; that's east. So if we go left we'll be heading almost due north."
Kaela had given up on her brother's slow pace and had started running on the path. Ben sighed and tried to catch up with her. She was very fast, and played a lot of sports, but Ben still outdistanced her by a few minutes.
"Alright." he said presently. "Around here is probably a ford." he took note of the surroundings. As they had been running, the deep woods (which they had been traveling parallel to) had thinned out until they could see that the creek had been behind it. They were now standing almost on it's bank, and they could both see that they had reached the ford. A long line of rocks marked the shallow area.
Ben and Kaela climbed down the bank and paused at the edge of the water. "Whose going first?" asked Kaela.
"I guess I will," replied Ben and stuck his foot in the creek. He was wearing boots, but he could feel the chilliness of the water. He looked down and could see bright green algae waving with the current, attached to the dark rocks. A few clam shells were scattered along the bed. He glanced back and could see beyond the bank and the trees were houses. He could hear some far-off trucks from the subdivision, and there was a bright yellow spray-painted board propped against a tree.
He reached the other side and scrambled up the bank. He looked at Kaela, who was almost across. When she reached the shore he helped her out and up. Then he looked back at the side they had been on just a few minutes ago. He inhaled sharply.
The houses and board had completely disappeared! Ben blinked twice, and then looked again, but they were still gone. "That's strange," he commented.
Kaela peered at him. "What's strange?" she asked.
"Last time I looked on that side, there were houses and other modern stuff. Now there aren't any. I could hear trucks, too."
"I can't hear any trucks, and I don't see the houses."
"I know, neither can I. And it's not like I can't see them from this angle. I should be able to see them better, if anything."
Kaela frowned. "Could that be what Mom was talking about? That we're isolated from the modern world on the other side of the creek?"
Ben shrugged. "Maybe. What d'you think we should do? Go on and explore this side of the creek, or go back. I'll let you choose."
Kaela pondered for a moment. "I think...we should explore. We're already on this side."
"Alright. Which way?"
She looked both ways. There were three paths. One led to the left, the other to the right, and the last straight ahead. They all met where the siblings were standing. After a few seconds of thought, she said, "Straight."
Ben and Kaela stepped forward and began walking.
Chapter 2
Ben glanced around as they walked. They were going through a woods now. For some reason that he couldn't explain, the woods felt...evil. The trees were all crooked and dead, and there was no grass or flowers. No birds, either. It was unnaturally silent. Neither of the children talked, and they walked almost on tip-toes.
He happened to glance to the side in time to see a dark shape, passing from tree to tree, following them. He blinked and then it was gone. I must be imagining things, he told himself. But it looked sort of human.
Ben watched the woods anxiously, keeping a sharp lookout for the dark shape. Kaela, walking beside him, asked "Ben, what's the matter?"
"Shh." he shushed her. "I thought I saw something."
Kaela shuddered. "Was it a bear?" she whispered.
"I don't think so. Oh, there it was!"
Kaela turned her head in time to catch a glimpse of the shadow. She gasped and whimpered, "I'm not really liking this... that looked like an ogre!"
"Don't be silly, Kaela. Ogres aren't real. You're just over-imagining."
"I'm sure it was an ogre, or at least what I've always thought they were like. They're sort of hunched over, and they walk flat-footed. I think they are ogres."
"Well, you can think what you like. They aren't--"
Ben was interrupted by a whoosh, and an instant later, a quivering arrow buried itself into one of the twisted trees, nearly clipping his ear. They froze for a second, and then another arrow landed inches from Kaela's foot.
The arrows were coming from the direction of the creek, so there was no way to go back that way. As one, the siblings began sprinting down the path, headed nowhere but hoping it was somewhere without arrows.
Ben risked a glance behind as they ran. Several dark shapes stood on the path behind them, all with bows bent and arrows on the string. They were hunched over and their feet turned outward, just like Kaela said. He managed to get a glimpse of their faces and knew immediately that his sister had been right. They were ogres.
One of the ogres fired his bow, and Ben swerved. The arrow missed and fell in front of him. He tripped slightly on it, and then continued running for dear life.
Suddenly, the ground beneath Ben and Kaela's feet swung open, and they fell down into a hole, clumps of dirt and rocks falling in with them. They landed with a thud at the bottom.
Ben looked around to find that he and his sister were in an underground room. It was small, containing only a table, three mats, and some chairs, as well as several swords propped against a wall. A lamp was on the table, and Ben could see by it's light that they were not alone. An old man with a flowing white beard sat in one of the chairs, and a man and a young woman, both maybe in their twenties at the latest, had just leapt out of their seats in surprise. They all were staring at Ben and Kaela.
The woman suddenly started. "Learka, quick--help me!" she yelled as she grabbed a sword and climbed up the earthen wall with amazing agility. The man also picked up a sword and followed her, and they disappeared from view when they got out of the hole in the ceiling. (As Ben watched them he saw that the hole was actually a hatch with a wooden door. His and Kaela's weight had must have triggered it somehow to open up) There were several flashes of light from above, followed by deep, gurgling yells. Then all was silent.
The man and the woman climbed back down into the hole, closing the hatch behind them. They propped their swords back against the wall, and then the woman addressed Ben and Kaela. "Good day," she greeted. "I am Yevelina Taelri Mahal Ka'amia Daria, but you can just call me Yev. The young man over there is Learka. He's my brother. And this is my father, Klii. Are you, by any chance, from other worlds?"
Ben, still slightly stunned by the rapidity of events, wondered, From other worlds? Oh no. We aren't in another world are we? Not a big surprise, actually. I sort of guessed that with the disappearing houses and the ogres. "I guess you could say we're from other worlds. I am Ben, and this is my sister, Mikaela. Very pleased to meet you."
This time the old man, Klii, answered. "And I, you. I must say, you are an answer to our prayers."
Learka looked strangely at Klii. "You aren't saying that they--" here he gestured at Ben and Kaela. "--sent from Adonai?"
"Learka," Klii said patiently. "It is written that help from these circumstances will fall from above. It did not say that Adonai would send warriors. And Ben and Kaela certainly did fall from above."
"Wait," Kaela frowned. "How are we an answer to prayer, who is Adonai, and where are we?"
Klii turned to the children. Ben got the immediate impression that he was very wise, expecially from his bright pale blue eyes. They held a spark of merriment, but also a solemnity. "Children, years ago, our beatiful land called Elandai, was a wonderful place to be. The forest that you passed through used to be green and living. Adonai is it's maker, and he made it as a paradise for his people.
"Unfortunetely, those people rebelled against Adonai, led by the evil one, Daran. They changed Elandai into a wasteland. There are some people whose hearts have changed and they follow Adonai, and the followers are greatly persecuted. They live underground, waiting for Adonai to come back and overthrow Daran. Adonai has promised that help will come, and he has said that it will fall from above. Like you did."
Ben nodded. "I get it. The dude called Adonai got overthrown and the dude in charge isn't that great, so you're planning a take-over."
Klii looked shocked. "No, you don't get it. Adonai is still in power, but he is a just ruler. In the beginning, he told the people that if they obeyed his statutes, they would live without death and so on. If they disobeyed, they would have to be punished with death. It is really our fault."
"Our fault?" Kaela asked. "I didn't rebel against him."
"Whenever we do something wrong, child, we rebel against Adonai. But, there is a way to escape death. Adonai has promised that he will send someone who will conquer Daran."
"Are we those someone's" Ben questioned.
"No. That someone has to be perfect, to carry out all the statutes, like we failed to do. You two, on the other hand, were sent to help prepare the way. Do you understand?"
Ben pondered for a moment, and then realized that yes, he did understand. He and Kaela nodded.
Klii smiled. "Good answer. Now, before you start your work, you must be trained. We will start immediately."

50 Things About Me
So...the second day of the celebration-thingy. I'm wondering if posting every day for a week will be kind of intense! :)
1. My middle initial is B.
2. I wasn't born in a state.
3. I do three instruments--voice (unofficially), piano, and Irish Tinwhistle
4. I have super-bendy ankles.
5. Speaking of ankles, I sprain them all the time. Playing soccer, going down the stairs...
6. This was not the first blog I started.
7. I have very faint freckles.
8. My hair is black at the roots, and light/medium brown at the tips.
9. Actually, three friends and Erestor say that my hair has a purple undertone. :)
10. I used to be obsessed with the Laura Ingalls Series.
11. I still think that 'Ingalls' is fun to say.
12. Once, I ate an unwashed peach. You know how pollen sticks to the peach fuzz? Well, I got hives from it.
13. My birthday is coming up!
14. I'm the oldest kid in the house. :(
15. My favorite colors are green, silver, blue, brown...basically all of them.
16. My birthstone is an emerald.
17. My Chinese year is...well, a rat. I would have preferred dragon.
18. I think that 50 things is a lot. I'm only on 18.
19. I have played the piano for about eight years.
20. I have had three piano teachers.
21. I had one of those piano teachers for maybe two or three months.
22. I am a 'fall person', meaning I look my best in fall colors.
23. I used to be able to do the splits.
24. My fingernails are now chipped silver.
25. I started another journal exactly a week ago.
26. I actually post on four blogs. I share two.
27. I love photography, but I'm basically learning by trial and error.
28. I actually used to take pictures 'blind' because my screen was broken. Some turned out really good, others...not.
29. One of my friends is 1/4 inches taller than me. :( She's a lot younger, too.
30. Only one of my first cousins is a blood-relative to me.
31. I used to be able to speak Russian pretty well.
32. Now, however, all I know is 'niet' and 'spasiba'. (that's not how 'spasiba' is spelled, but I'm just spelling it the way it's pronounced). If you didn't know, that means 'no' and 'thank you'.
33. Oh, and I also know how to say 'brush your teeth', 'good night', and 'watermelon' in Russian.
34. I speak pretty fast sometimes.
35. The initials of the ends of my names are E. N. N.
36. I like to swim in our creek. Everyone looks at me like I'm crazy when I say that.
37. I consider myself 'eccentric'.
38. I don't like my middle name.
39. Oh, and did you know that my parents were going to name me Moses if I was a boy?
40. They were going to name me Catherine, but a nurse interfered. Why did mom have to ask her opinion?
41. I am a short-distance runner. I'm pretty fast, but I can hardly run a mile.
42. I have had a HUGE splinter lodged into my palm once, and I basically had to perform surgery on it right there in my friend's backyard with a stick and my teeth.
43. I would love to name my first daughter Colleen.
44. Only six more to go...I have been in at least four life-threatening experiences.
45. When we go to the beach, I can always be found in the water. Even in January.
46. I am very un-politically correct.
47. My hair is more than half-way down my back.
48. Okay, obvious one here--I LOOOOOOOVE Lord of the Rings.
49. Oh, and I can't decide between Haldir and Aragorn. True, Aragorn needs to bathe, but Frodo didn't really, either. But they both (or all three) rock.
50. I have very noisy siblings! I can't hear myself think!
And that was 50! Did we all survive? YES! Are we all asleep? YES! Are you all with me? NO!

My Caption Contest, and a prayer request
Well...the long awaited day has finally arrived! Happy 1st Blog Anniversary to me! Er, to the blog. Whatever.
Here are your pictures:
#1.

#2.

#3

#4

#5

Okay. Now here are your guidelines:
#1. Contest ends on March 16, 2010 at...well, 11:59 ET.
#2. Number your captions according to the picture it's supposed to go to, please. Otherwise I won't be able to tell what it's for. I could in some cases make an educated guess, but it's not guaranteed that I'll guess correctly.
#3. There are no prizes other than the satisfaction that you've won the caption contest.
#4. Out of all the captions, I will choose one overall winner.
And rules:
#1. PLEASE no swearing, taking the Lord's name in vain, cussing, or uh...interesting...captions. Basically, nothing that you wouldn't say in a church. I will delete any caption that I think violates this.
#2. Good sportsmanship is also a must.
#3. And it'd be really cool if you tried to use good punctuation/spelling/capitalization. Not necessary, but really cool.
Thanks! I'm very interested in what people have for #5!
And now for my prayer request...
I'm starting to teach piano on Tuesday. My student is someone who I've known for nearly all of their life, and who I'm pretty good friends with. As in, we goof off together all the time. Could you pray that everything goes all right? My main concern is that I won't be able to make the transition from fellow goof to piano teacher and back, and if it would change anything in our 'goofing' relationship. Thank you so much!
Izori
P.S. These pictures were taken from 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves', 'Lord of the Rings', 'The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe', and 'The Princess Bride'.

My Week, Tagged by Celtic Traveler, and Daybook
All of the post's you've seen this week (except for this one) was scheduled. Not from any forethought of mine, but just because I wanted to schedule something. Well, it turned out that it was for the better!
On Monday, we had co-op and schoolwork. I began getting a really bad headache from the cedar pollen.
On Tuesday, I had piano lessons and schoolwork. I still had a headache from allergies.
On Wednesday, we did schoolwork and Mom took Luthien for a hearing test.
On Thursday, we had schoolwork, ice-skating, and then torture. Did I say torture? I meant Accompaniment Class. I was probably the most prepared of all 4 students. Yep, all four. Including me, those were the only four that came, other than the teachers, of course. :) It was actually on the fun side. However, I came away with my CTS really, really bothering me.
On Friday, I did schoolwork. My wrists were still, like, killing me, and I'm was still having allergies.
Today hasn't really begun yet, but the allergy meds that Mom bought for me are now working. Yay!
And so, add it all up and you get a loaded week!
So I'm very glad that I scheduled posts.
Here is the tag from Celtic Traveler:
Rules:
You grab a book, turn to pg. 123. Then go to the the fifth sentence and post the next 4 sentences. The tag 5 people. So, here goes:
'A multitude of paws hauled him swiftly up through the hole. Shrill voices chanted jubilantly, "Yikyik! Gorramouse! Yeeeeeeeh!"
Skipper could not make out what was going on up ahead. Hearing the sounds, he dashed toward the shaft of light.'
--'Doomwyte' by Brian Jacques
Now I tag...
Catherine Morland
Eldarwen
Lady Milisande Awnia Grim
J.T. Norlander
Emma
And now for the Writer's Daybook.
What time is it...9:57 AM
I'm feeling...irritated, annoyed, pained.
Outside is...very good weather.
Today I...guess what! I get to...*drumroll, please*...go to the Alpaca 4-H club! Yay...not. Yuck and grrrrrrr. It's a waste of a beautiful day, that's what!
I am hearing...Luthien.
I am hoping...somehow Alpaca club will be canceled! Only an hour to go!
I'm looking forward to...being done with alpacas.
I am glad that...Alpaca club only lasts two hours. And that my wrists are hurting, because that might keep me from handling alpacas.
What I'm currently working on writing-wise...my story about a girl, a dragon, and a crazy pirate.
What I just finished reading...nothing, really.
What I'm hoping to read...Jane Eyre. But we haven't gotten it out of the library yet.
Writing buddy who I talked to last...igirl.
Writing tip of the week...drawing a blank here. I'm peck-typing because my left wrist is in no shape to type. Excuse any typos, please!
Number of words I wrote this week...2,000 or so.
What time is it...10:07 AM

Wee Random Thoughts
It's kind of interesting to read an author's books after you've read their biography. If you look hard enough, you can see little pieces of their lives written into their work, and it adds so much more insight.
Take 'The Magician's Nephew' by C.S. Lewis for example. Digory's mother is very sick, and there doesn't seem to be much hope for her until (WARNING: SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ 'TMN' YET--WHO HASN'T?) Digory brings her a magic apple. (END OF SPOILER) C.S. Lewis' mother died of cancer when he was at a fairly young age. Could he have written that wishing that he could have been in Digory's situation?
Just a little thought that I had--tell me what y'all think!

My Musical Story
A five year old girl sits on the wooden piano bench, her chubby fingers poised stiffly on the white keys. A worn, well-used book rests on the music stand, it's yellowy pages bent with old age. The pout on the girl's face could curdle milk as she rebelliously stares down the notes. The endless ticking of the metronome is the only sound in the tiny room.
The oldish man sitting next to the girl sighs. "So. Are you going to play the piece for me?"
Reluctantly, the girl nods and starts plunking out the awkward notes, wishing she was somewhere else. Playing outside with her brother would be fun...even doing math would be better than piano lessons, in her opinion.
Yep. That was me at about age five. My mom signed me up for piano lessons at an old shop that no longer exists. And boy, oh boy, did I ever give her grief about it! She says that it was my idea to start piano lessons...but I don't ever remember saying that I wanted to. I'm not doubting my mom or anything (well, okay. Maybe I am) but I seriously don't remember.
So...did you get the picture that I didn't really want to be playing the piano? Basically everyone else did. My mom, my dad, my brother, my teacher, my friends...
I think it was because of the scales. My teacher made me practice C scale five times before we began music lessons. And D scale. And F scale. And A scale. And...
The point is, I couldn't see the point. I felt that it was a waste of time just running my fingers up and down the keyboard. And I didn't really feel that I was very good at it, anyway.
After about six more painful years of scales and exercises, I finally started to notice something. I was improving! I could do long scale runs very fast in songs, and generally move my fingers quicker. Now I had moved out of the boring lane and gotten to the point where things got really fun. I actually got a little enthusiastic about going to piano lessons.
And then the music shop closed down. So we decided to switch--to an actual music school. My old teacher was more of a composer (maybe he'll be Beethoven II someday! Who knows?) and this would be an actual official music school.
I was really, really nervous, because I still didn't consider myself that skilled at piano. Erestor and I (Erestor plays the guitar) both had the same music teacher, who majored in guitar. And he taught me piano. Seriously.
However, there was only a few months of that before that piano teacher's wife began to teach me. And she is a wonderfully skilled pianist, not to mention a lot of fun. Sometimes she brings her dog, Bo, with her to lessons, and he'll sit under my bench.
Mrs. Y-- is still my teacher today, and she's a very good one. Although I got a lot of technical skills with my first teacher, not to mention my basic training and the beginnings of appreciation for music, a lot of my enthusiasm comes from Mrs. Y--. She makes lessons a lot of fun, and we end up talking about half the time. XD
Now, I'm possibly considering majoring in music in college, and also teaching (that actually would start at age 16).
One thing I learned from all of this...
Do. Scales. Every. Single. Day. You'll go very far.
