Rolling the credits
Of course, I have to thank all of the people that helped me write my NaNoWriMo book, intentional help or otherwise.
Mom and Dad: For giving me plot suggestions, granting me extra computer time, editing offers, and (Dad on this one) for saving my story to his computer just in case this one crashed.
Erestor and Luthien: Sorry I had to kick both of you off the computer multiple times! You guys were both so patient (ahem, most of the time) when I had to turn down offers to little soccer games in the basement because I was writing.
Galdor: Thank you, kiddo, for not banging on the mouse too terribly hard while I was trying to hold you and type at the same time. If the mouse had broken, I wouldn't know what to do!
Andrea, igirl, Enna-Rin, and various friends: For discussing my book with me, and for helping me along with things. (What!?!? You killed your main character!? Great, Izori! ;) Also thanks to three friends in particular, who patiently waited while I had to postpone writing our movie script for the month. Sorry, ladies!

Never mind about the fish getting along...
*sigh* Don't you fish know that it's close to Christmas? That means you're supposed to BEHAVE, but no, instead you start attacking each other! No Christmas presents for you, young ladies!
Yep, our betta fish fight. So now they're separated. And I've also at least decided which one is mine. You see, one fish is white/ice pink, and the other is black. I thought both of them looked pretty cool, so I wasn't sure which one was mine. But now I've picked the black.
If only I had a really cool name for her...any suggestions, anyone?

More Fish!
After Arwen and Galadriel's untimely deaths (the fish, not the elves, remember?!) we got two new betta fish. Females of course--if we had gotten two male betta fish, they would have eaten each other. And, so far, these fish (unnamed yet) appear to be a lot healthier than the last ones! They get along well, too.
We haven't put Shrimp in there yet, though. We're just waiting for our unnamed fish to get used to their new home before we introduce him. Arwen and Galadriel both tried to eat Shrimp, and we don't want that happening again! So now he's just in a plastic container. Poor guy; in the last week he's been moved back and forth about six times!
While we were getting our fish, Mom, Luthien, and I (Erestor, Galdor, and Dad didn't go) took a look at some other pets. The kittens were SOOOOO cute! And the rodents...I LOVED them, but Mom has this thing about anything that looks like a rat (does that sound familiar?) And of course I saw the parrot. :D I think parrots are cool. However, Mom also has this thing with birds...

But, Lord willing, I'm counting on doing this next year!
I was just skimming over my novel (50,305 words, 210 pages) and...well, it was a lot better than I expected it to be! I thought that it would be horrible because it was so rushed, but I actually think that its better written than Sarea, which definitely wasn't rushed ;)
Yeah, so I managed to get Elizabeth back to life (thankfully! Everyone's been giving me a hard time about killing my character :) and I also managed to add in a lot of characters! Matter of fact, here they are.
Main Characters:
Elizabeth Miller--14 yr. old human girl
Angela Hawkins--15 yr. old human girl
Skye Connolly--14 yr. old human girl
Second Characters: (A lot of them, but not all!)

A Less Rushed Thanksgiving Post (and some other things)
Okay, sorry that I didn't do this yesterday! Yes, I am thankful, but I'm also...busy.
So, I am thankful for...
1). God! Seriously, this is a very good thing to be thankful for. If it wasn't for God, we wouldn't be here.
2). My family! Yes, this is the usual, run of the mill thankful thing, but there's a reason why its so common!
3). Shrimp! (The pet, not the food. I don't like eating shrimp, or Shrimp :) unless I cook it myself). Anyway, Shrimp (our pet) has now survived three fish. Yes, Ano died :(. So we got two female betta, Galadriel, which was mine, and Arwen, which was Erestor's. They both died, too. I don't know why, but they did. So now I think that our family should strictly stick to shrimp as pets. Apparently we kill off everything else.
4). All of my friends, online and offline! And also friends that I know both online AND offline!
5). This blog!
6). My gift (sometimes curse) of writing!
7). NaNoWriMo! I'm really enjoying it!
8). Wierd names, like mine. I actually think I sort of like my name.
9). Comments! *hint, hint!*
10). Awards! *hint, hint, again!*
11). Our wonderful, amazing church!
I could go on all afternoon, but I also have a few other things to say.
First off, I'm on the homestretch of NaNoWriMo! Just a few thousand more words to write!
Second, we're decorating for Christmas today! Whohoo!!
Third, HERE is a very good post from Earwen's blog, A Hot Heart. Read it, and also read the blog! It's very, very good!

I cannot believe this.
I really can't.
This is the first time I have ever completely shocked myself with my story, and I also made myself cry for the very first time in my story.
I just killed my main character.
WHERE DID THAT COME FROM!!!!!
I'm making plans to get her back to life...I hope. Good thing its an allegory, so maybe I can have this a sort of allegory for the story of Lazarus.
But I still can't believe this! *sniff* My characters have completely run off with my NaNoWriMo story! Now one is about to be tortured, one is believed to be dead, one has been tragically shot in the back by an arrow, and now one has been killed!
*sniff*

I am SO sore...yesterday I ran a 5K (about 3 miles) race...without any training except for a tiny bit! I didn't make good timing, but I did see a lot of people I knew!
The main reason I'm posting on a Sunday is to tell you all (who are, for the most part, writers like myself) (hey, did you notice--myself? ;) that Andrea and I took several pictures on the subject of writing! Click HERE to see them!
Also, I might as well put my NaNo update in this post and accomplish two things...I'm doing pretty good! Much better than I thought I would, at least. I've managed to get somewhat ahead, which was good because today I hardly wrote much at all :) And today we have the week off...so writing, here I COME!!!

Update on NaNoWriMo and some ponderings of mine on Twilight
Hello all,
I am ahead in my word count! *does happy dance* And, believe it or not, I am actually looking forward to getting up at 5:30 AM to write a few thousand words every day!
However, I am starting to feel the strain on my schoolwork. I have been working all day, on either schoolwork or on writing, and it doesn't help that this is going to be a busy week. I am not behind, thankfully, (except in Latin and Grammar...I am hoping to do some Grammar tonight, though) but I'm certainly not ahead.
Also, I was thinking about Twilight. Edward Cullen is supposed to be a Christian, is he not? Or at least, he's supposed to believe in God. And the Bible says that you shall know someone to be a Christian because of their fruits, right? (fruits, as in their actions). And Bella, who Edward marries, isn't a Christian? And he marries her? Doesn't the command to 'not be un-equally yoked' come to mind, here? I certainly don't see much fruit from Edward. Just a quick thought that I wanted to share before it totally left my mind.
Well...oh, yeah, this is my 252 post on this blog! I haven't celebrated my 100th or 200 post, so I'm hoping to celebrate my 300th post with...something; I'm not really sure yet.

Just a quick post...
I have to do my school work, and I'm really behind on it, and because Mom, Luthien, and Galdor are picking up Great-Grandma from another state, I got to do the dishes last night, and this morning...*sigh*. Don't you LOVE dishes? They're so...non writing-friendly.
Oh, yeah, and the Redskins FINALLY won a game! Against the Broncos, I believe. All people who cheer for the Nationals (baseball) and the Redskins (American Football) are very loyal fans.
Also, the soccer tournament on Wednesday (I know, late update. Sorry!) was rained out *sniff*. BUT MY TEAM WOULD HAVE WON!! No, actually they wouldn't have. We probably would have been creamed.
So, onto math...*another sigh*.

Things to keep in mind for NaNoWriMo
1. It's quantity that counts here, not quality. When you're trying to get 50,000 into your computer in 30 days, I do not want to be fretting about an awkward sentence or a choppy paragraph. Writing perfectly in first drafts never happens, so why try?

And then once Enna-Rin and I dressed up in really strange clothes and otherwise 'disguised' ourselves, and then pretended to be door saleswomen to try and sell books to our brothers. It didn't work. There are plenty of other crazy things I've done.

Update on my NaNoWriMo progress...and various blogging things
My goodness, this is my third post for today!
Anyway, NaNoWriMo's going...okay. I was hoping I would be able to get ahead today, because with the all-day soccer tournament tomorrow, I won't be able to write hardly at all. All of you who are WAY ahead, good job! I wish I was in that position...
Yeah, and also, I'm hoping to judge caption contest results soon. I'm usually right on to things like this, but as you have noticed, I'm sorta busy!! With schoolwork (had a lot today) my other hobbies (knitting, running, soccer, drawing, photography, etc.), and life in general, not to mention NaNo, I have a FULL schedule!
Also, doing the last Elandai book right now is out of the question. I'm hoping to start back in January or something (December's going to be really busy, too!), but don't be surprised if it sort of...dwindles away.

Guarding our eyes
THIS post by a wonderful fellow blogger, Ëarwen, has got me thinking, "Am I guarding my eyes well?"
For starters, I read the Inheritance Cycle. I started reading it because some people that I know really liked it. And I was drawn right into it.
Let me tell you, I'm a real sucker for adventure. And that's why I have to be extra careful when I read a book. If I'm not, I'll like it simply because the battles are really awesome, or there's amazing adventure in it. And I tend to brush aside the 'other stuff'...that matters much more than adventure.
Sure, I was bothered when Angela predicts Eragon's future, the Elves declare themselves atheists, that the magic is not an allegory of God's power (as it is in Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia) and that Eragon's love for Arya is more of a lustful crush than real love. But I just ignored it and tried to convince myself, "Well, at least it doesn't have any 'good' sorcerers or anything like that in it."
And then I realized that Eragon and the other riders are basically sorcerers by another name.
After that, I started noticing other things such as Roran and Katrina's disgusting relationship before their marriage. And the book didn't even portray it at wrong! At the most, it was only 'different'.
And that lead to me thinking, "How different is Eragon from Twilight?"
Yikes.
Okay, I have never read Twilight, and I'm not sure if I will. If I do, it will be mixed in with hours of reading my Bible and praying, and it will be when I'm much older. But a Christian review that I read a long while ago (and that I can't find right now...sorry!) said that Bella lies and forsakes her parents for the vampire-dude, who I think is named...Edward? Yeah, anyway, for all of you who have already read Twilight, is that true?
If it is, then wouldn't 1 Corinthians 13:6 apply here? Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth (1 Corinthians 13:6 NIV) You may argue that Edward (if that's the vampire-dude) is a good vampire, but is he really?
If you have read Twilight and know that I have the facts wrong, please correct me.
Avoid every kind of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 NIV
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Romans 12:9 NIV
Let those who love the Lord hate evil. Psalm 97:10A NIV
And because of those verses, I am considered whether or not I should read the last book of the Inheritance Cycle.

Update on my NaNoWriMo progress!
Whew, I'm more busy then I thought I would be!
I started today a few thousand words behind...and now I'm slightly ahead! I've been plugging away at it ever since I finished school. But it's so hard to stare at the computer screen all day, and once I'm done posting this I'll get off the computer and do something outside.
The hardest thing about this is remembering that it's about quantity, not quality. I am a perfectionist, and if something isn't perfect, I tend to worry over it. So my story is horribly written, but I'm up to over 8,333 words.
I know a lot of you NaNo-ers are in the 10,000's already...but I'm not quite so good a writer as a lot of people.
And I am really tired.

First person perspective vs. second person perspective vs. third person perspective
Wow, that was a longish title for a short-ish post.
So, which do you enjoy writing/reading more--books written in first, second, or third perspective?
Just so that there is no one left wondering, "Huh?" I'll explain what the perspectives are.
First perspective is written from the viewpoint of the main character using "I" instead of "he/she". For example:
"I watched as the strange creature crept across the floor of the cave, waiting for my chance to strike."
Books written in first perspective include Fairest, by Gail Carson Levine, and Island of the Blue Dolphins, by Scott O'Dell.
Second perspective uses pronouns for the main characters such as "he/she" but sometimes the author uses "I", too, sort of like they are telling a story.

C.S. Lewis uses second perspective in 'The Chronicles of Narnia' and E. Nesbit uses it in Five Children and It.

Chapter 8 (From the Dark)
Soooooooooo, been a very very long time since I've worked on my Elandai book (which still isn't named). Some of you gave me name suggestions a while ago, so I'll put those on a poll with the names I thought up and then y'all can vote.
Another thing...I've decided not to prolong the Elandai series any longer. So basically, this book will turn into the last. Don't worry, I'll make it as good as I can!
Oh, and one other thing--click HERE to see my last chapter. I was reading through it, and I was like, "Man, I wrote this?" I think my writing style has matured a little.
Chapter 8
Ben started as Kaela screamed. Not because he had been scared (although that certainly had happened), it was because he had run into something that felt uncomfortably like a spiderweb.
He wasn't paranoid of spiders like his sister was, but this was a very large spiderweb. Ben frantically swiped at his arms, trying to get the sticky strands away from him. He gave a small yelp as he touched a strand--it was thicker than a piece of yarn and it burned his hand.
Trying to jerk away from the burning, acidic web, he blundered straight into another one. Except this one had a resident living in it.
Ah, so that was what Kaela was screaming about, Ben mumbled to himself. He was staring straight into a pair of glowing balls that he knew were eyes. The scary thing was, the eyes were the size of oranges.
Kaela had dropped her sword when she had nearly walked into the web. The spider sitting in the middle of it reached out grossly-large, hairy legs toward her face.
Behind her, Lisa saw it and jerked Kaela back, who had been frozen in terror. Then she too gave a screech.
Both Ben and Kaela's swords--one dropped and one still held in a webbed-up hand--had suddenly been extinguished.
Lerin, who had been behind the others, hadn't yet reached the spiderwebs. All of the children heard him as he called out, "What's wrong? What's going on?"
"Help?" Ben groaned. Over at the edge of the path where he was, the spider had begun making him into a cocoon. He jerked out an arm and struck out at the spider, but it merely hissed and avoided it. Trying to move his sword, he found that he was too webbed up to do it. When the webbing gets past my jeans and my shirt, it will be rather painful on my arms and face, Ben reminded himself, redoubling his efforts to get free.
Kaela never knew how she did it, but with a high and shaky yell, she picked up her sword once more and lunged at the spider closest to Ben.
It was one of those moments where she felt that someone else had climbed into her body and was making it move, and all she had to do was sit back and watch. With a move she had not told herself to do, she sliced right through the spider's middle. Blood that looked black in the dark, but could have been a different color in better lighting, spilled out as the spider shriveled up and flopped dead onto the ground.
She shivered--the spider was close to the size of a pony--but her arm continued on in it's seemingly unassigned work. Her sword cut through the webbing around Ben as quickly as if the strands were water, and so neatly that Kaela was startled. She could never do that!
But the main point was that Ben was safe now, rubbing his arms and trying to get that horrible spidery sensation out of them. And there were many more spiders, creeping just outside the ring of light.
Light? Kaela caught herself. Yes, light was once again coming from her sword, and in the glow she could see Lerin in the act of kicking at a spider, trying to fend it off.
Ben was off like a shot, his sword drawn and shedding light again. But as he went by Kaela, he muttered "Thanks!"
Behind her, Lisa called out, "Kaela?" There was panic in her voice.
Kaela swung around, thinking that her friend was entangled in a web. But instead Lisa was distractedly beating a spider with a stick.
"Did you see that?" Lisa gave the spider one more whack and it curled up, stone dead. Kaela realized that she was not talking about how she had defeated the monstrous arachnid.
"See what?"
"Right over there by the edge of the light--I saw something like a...a man!" She pointed with a shaky hand.
Kaela knew what was going through Lisa's head right now; the stories Ben and her had recited about the Ogres and other things from the times they had been to Elandai before. "I don't think--" she began, but then stopped with a small squeak.
A spider had just dropped from a tree overhead, obviously aiming for Kaela's head. Unfortunately for it (and very fortunately for her), it has missed by a hairsbreadth and instead impaled itself on her sword. There was a squeaky hiss, and then dark blood spattered Kaela as the spider shriveled up on the blade.
For one startled moment, she stood there with her mouth open, staring right into huge orbs dimmed by death. Then Lisa broke her silence.
"Well...I guess that's one spider that won't jump again."
For some insane reason (and it wasn't hysteria) Kaela broke out into laughter. From that moment onward, she looked at spiders much differently. Even years later, she would remember the time when a spider had jumped onto her blade, and fear of them would no longer bother her.
Lisa laughed with her, and then the two girls--one with a sword (now without the ornament of a spider) and one with a stick--set out to shrivel some more spiders.
Ben had just stuck his sword into the last spider when a voice said from the edge of the dark, "Well, we came to help you, but I believe you do not need our assistance."
Lerin jumped and shouted, "Outlaws!", Lisa screamed, "Ogres!", and Ben and Kaela eagerly toward the sound of the voice.
"Who's there?" Ben called out.
In answer, the owner of the voice stepped into the voice.
He was tall and strong-looking, with green eyes that twinkled with supressed merriment. His beard, brown and curly, made him look like the Elandaian version of Robin Hood. He was not dressed in green though; instead his garb was a light brown tunic and boots and leggings of the same material. And instead of being armed with a bow and a quiver, at his waist was tied a sling, a bag of stones --and a sword that looked remarkably like Ben and Kaela's.
The man surveyed the little group with a smile. "My, my, two ladies, one young sir, and a another sir who looks like he fought his last battle decades ago defeating this rabble of spiders. My thanks we owe you, strangers. These spiders have been plaguing us for some time. No doubt set here by the Dark One, they have been carrying off those of us who stray out at night--young ones, older children, even grown men."
Kaela decided that she liked this man who had just appeared out of the darkness. Although he didn't bring the assurance that she knew only one would bring, it was still a comfort to have another human around--one who looked like he knew something about mountain survival.
Ben, however, caught something that his sister missed. "Hold on. Who's 'we' and 'us'?"
The man's eyebrows leapt up in approval. "Rather sharp young man, aren't you. And I see that your sword shed light." He gave a slow whistle.
Men materialized around the small group, revealing the fact that throughout most of the fight with the spiders, they had been surrounded. The men were dressed much like their leader, although (with the exception of the swords) they were armed differently.
The man who had first appeared drew his sword. It glowed, warm and mellow, showing that he was a 'follower', or one that Adonai had set aside as his own.
Lerin was looking accusingly at the man. "You are outlaws, aren't you?" he demanded. "This army proves it!"
Looking around at his men, the man nodded. "I see a band, not an army, but one cannot be too exact in words. So I suppose you could call us outlaws, yes."

There. I maybe could have done better on this chapter--it's hard to write an attack by huge spiders when you're listening to 'Let it Snow' by Celtic Woman!

The Caption Contest that I have promised!!
Well...if you read the title, you know what I'm talking about.

I know that some of you are rather spread out and won't be on the same time as I will be, so just a warning that it ends on MY midnight. Not that I'm going to be staying up 'till midnight to figure out who commented after the deadline. But I'll trust you guys to figure out when exactly to post to make it before 12:00 AM Eastern time.

Moving past zonked, on Friday we watched 'The Two Towers'! It was awesome. Of course, we stayed up until midnight watching it.
Erestor is rather sensitive--he didn't like the scary parts. I, however, am slightly more...bloodthirsty...not really, but I scare less easily.
I can't even name my favorite character! I liked pretty much all of them (Eldarwen, I repeat, you were right. Haldir is totally AWESOME *sniff*!)
Rather pressed for time...and very zonked :D.
