I Think the Turtle Recognizes Me *insert scary music*

Whenever I walk into the schoolroom, I'm in full view of my pet turtle's tank, which is sitting on the schoolroom table (this is also where our computer is). Oddly enough, whenever I walk in, my turtle, Tintin, suddenly starts madly swimming in place against the tank wall. He almost never does that to anyone else but me, and I must admit that it makes me feel special. I take him for 'walks' across the kitchen floor.

Yeah, I'm weird. A turtle's affections (either that, or Tintin's trying to strangle me) make me happy. =) And honestly, I don't think I'd be well off without a pet of some sort. I've had about five hermit crabs, two cats, chickens, five fish, one shrimp, and now a turtle. Never had a dog. =( I do have a pet dragon, though! Lol, in my own virtual world, that is. I still have my favorite cat's collar and picture on my nightstand. =( He died a loooong time ago. Like, when I was nine or ten years old.

I also don't know many people who had a pet chicken. Pequenita was a black bantam pullet, absolutely gorgeous. I entered her into the fair, where she got a first place and beat out Erestor's bantam. =) The judges said that she was a perfect show-bird (good breeding, dealt with the stress of the show-barn well), but since we live in the suburbs I couldn't keep her. We gave her to a friend's farm, and now I have no clue what happened to her. Erestor's cockerel was named Dixie, and he was a lot different than Pequenita. A very nice bird, but he kinda went...well, mad...from being in the fair.

Such is the life of a dork...unusual pets, unusual hobbies...completely awesome!

Oh! Completely unrelated, but guess what! Mom and I went to Borders, and I got....DA-DA-DA-DUH! ALL THREE LORD OF THE RINGS MOVIES! YAY! This is a big deal for us, because we rarely buy movies. Now I have them stashed up in my room, right next to the LotR soundtrack. =)

Anyone who wants to listen to randomness...

...step right into line.

Random Thoughts:

#1. It seems like I've been falling apart this week. Two wrists with CTS, one extremely bruised knee after slipping on ice, and last night I twisted my ankle slightly while dancing in the basement (don't ask). I just wanted to share that observation with you.

#2. After watching the movie, I can't figure out who I like better: Eowyn or Arwen. I still think that (at least in the books) that Arwen is a better role model. She is respectful to her father, while Eowyn hates her role as lady of the house.

And guess what!

Which one seems happier, Arwen or Eowyn?

Yes, I also believe that the woman's role--and glory--is to be a keeper at home. There isn't any shame in it, and neither does it mean that women aren't strong, or can't touch weapons. But it's the MAN'S duty to be at war, and it's the WOMEN'S duty to support them.

But I still like them both equally. They're like sisters to me! (Well, in a kind of distant way.)

#3. After watching Legolas kill the Mummakill (is that how you spell them?), I have decided that I am only half Elf. Only a full-blooded Elf could do that!

#4. I really ought to be doing my schoolwork. But I'm about to start Latin...and you don't want to get me started on how DELIGHTFUL Latin is.

#5. I'm doing archery tonight. It's part of my Elven training ;) I just hope my wrists can hold up.

#6. Uh...I got to play the piano a wee bit today.

#7. I am sometimes made fun of because of my Scottish accent. I don't have much of a Scottish accent, so I wonder why?

#8. While I'm on the subject of accents...am I the only person who LOVES Pippin's accent? It's really cool.

#9. My laptop is really cool.

#10. I'm running out of steam here! I suppose I'll end now.

Bye!

HA!!

Last night we watched the second half of 'Return of the King'! So that means that I've now watched ALL of the movies! So THERE!!

Ahem. Yeah, anyway.

Now I want to start all over again at 'FotR'. Oh well. It'll probably be ten years before I watch it again. My family's like that. You see a movie once, that's great. Now you never see it again. Especially if it's such a hassle, like The Lord of the Rings movies--Luthien and Galdor have to go to bed first, and by the time we start watching, it's about 9:00. Which means we end around midnight or past.

But it's fun.

I think that my favorite movie (I can say this now that I've watched them all) is either 'FotR' or 'TTT'. Seems like such a long time since we watched either, though.

The Caption Contest that I have promised!!

Well...if you read the title, you know what I'm talking about.

GUIDELINES:

--Caption Contest starts on Monday, November 2, and ends on Friday, November 6, at midnight on Eastern time. I know that some of you are rather spread out and won't be on the same time as I will be, so just a warning that it ends on MY midnight. Not that I'm going to be staying up 'till midnight to figure out who commented after the deadline. But I'll trust you guys to figure out when exactly to post to make it before 12:00 AM Eastern time.

--When you comment your caption, please number them according to what picture your caption is for (i.e. #1. Blah, blah, blah. #2. Blah, blah...etc).

--There will be no prize other than the satisfaction of knowing that you have won. And winners, what I will do is figure out the winner for each individual picture, and then the overall funniest caption will be the winning one.

--the link to the Caption Contest will also be on my sidebar.

RULES:

--Please do not use bad words or any language that you would not say in the presence of our Lord. Also please don't insult other people in your captions. If you violate any of that, I will have to delete your comment (or if I can) simply use a more politer word in its place. I don't think any of y'all would do this...but I'll just say it anyway.

--Be a good sport.

--HAVE FUN!!!!!

And here are your pictures, taken from 'The Princess Bride', 'Fellowship of the Ring' and 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe'.

Zonked.

I like that word...zonked. It just sounds funny.

Yeah, any way, I'm zonked. Man, that's such a cool word!

Moving past zonked, on Friday we watched 'The Two Towers'! It was awesome. Of course, we stayed up until midnight watching it.

Erestor is rather sensitive--he didn't like the scary parts. I, however, am slightly more...bloodthirsty...not really, but I scare less easily.

I can't even name my favorite character! I liked pretty much all of them (Eldarwen, I repeat, you were right. Haldir is totally AWESOME *sniff*!)

Rather pressed for time...and very zonked :D.

Stayed up 'till midnight...but it was worth every second!!!! (aka Movie Review)

We FINALLY watched The Fellowship of the Ring last night!! We had to wait until nine or so for Luthien and Galdor to go to bed. And then...we watched it. I suppose I'll do an official review.

'The Fellowship of the Ring'

When Bilbo Baggins vanishes on his 111 birthday, he leaves a mysterious ring of power behind to his nephew, Frodo. Gandalf the Wizard, an old friend of Bilbo's, doesn't know much about the ring except for that it is dangerous and must be kept hidden from all eyes. More research about the ring reveals that it will be the end of Middle Earth, unless Frodo can destroy it in the place where it came from--Mordor.

Frodo and three friends, Sam, Pippin, and Merry, set out to deliver the ring to whoever can destroy it, and find that this ring has even bigger importance than they had realized. When they reach Rivendell, it is decided that Frodo himself will bear the ring, and that two men, Aragorn and Boromir, an elf named Legolas, a dwarf named Gimli, and Gandalf the Wizard will all accompany them. Thus starts the Fellowship of the Ring...

You must watch it.

With that said, I'll be more official. It was wonderful!! Now I understand what everyone else was raving about.

Good stuff: There's a lot of close friendship and awesome fight scenes. I really liked the Ringwraiths (not that it's my style or anything, they just did a good job of looking really creepy and evil). I greatly enjoyed finally seeing the movie that I had been dying to see for years, and I must say, it certainly was an awesome movie in a whole lot of ways.

There is some cautionary stuff, though (yes, I know this seems longer than the good stuff...but it really isn't): First of all, Aragorn and Arwen kiss. I see what people mean when they say that Arwen is definitely not as pure in the movie as in the books. And I could understand why Dad and Mom didn't want me and Erestor to watch it until we had reached the ages we are (also I think it was a good idea to send Galdor and Luthien to bed. Luthien wouldn't even watch parts of 'The Princess Bride') There's some brief torture scenes, and the bad guys are very real looking. I actually enjoyed the part where Aragorn lopped off the Uruk-Hai's (I think I spelled that right) head, but that could also be sort of disturbing.

I must say, I didn't close my eyes during the movie at all!! I also managed to not cry until the ending part (s). I'm usually the last to cry during movies, and if you ask any of my friends, they would most likely say that I'm not a crying type of person.

At the place where we do archery, there was one girl (she's not likely to appear on this blog very much, so I won't bother to give her a name) that said Erestor reminded her of Pippin. I definitely see the resemblence (haha). They even look somewhat alike!!

And now I'm going back to bed.

Miscellaneous Stuff (all neatly numbered!)

#1. I haven't been posting much of my Elandai book, have I! Sorry about that, but I've decided to put my attention to two writing projects: Sarea, and the script for the movie my friends and I are making. I'm NOT quitting Elandai, but I'm just telling you not to expect a whole bunch of chapters.

#2. The singing group I'm in recorded for the first time today!!!

#3. Songaia (the next third of my book) is going good! I have so many characters that it's hard to keep track of them now.

#4. WE'RE GOING TO WATCH LORD OF THE RINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but I'm SO excited!!!! We got 'The Fellowship of the Rings' from Netflix in the mail yesterday. We're planning to watch it on Friday night. Luthien and Galdor are going to be in bed while we watch it (they're too young) so Erestor and I are trying hard not to mention watching a movie in front of them.

Injuries

I'm extremely injury prone. Besides having my sweet, kind, caring, gentle brother 'break' my finger, I have also sprained my ankle, done something to my back, re-sprained my ankle, 'broke' my big toe (also partly courtesy of my brother) and bravely sacrificed my finger providing food for my starved family (translation: I burnt my finger taking muffins out of the oven). Poor me. And with all of this...I can type!

And I'm very bored.

Sooo...ah, yes. You may have noticed I have a Lord of the Rings character quiz on my sidebar. You also may have noticed that I have changed characters. When I first took the test, I was Arwen. Then I took it again (this time to put it on my blog) and I became Elrond. Not that he's bad or anything, I'd much prefer to be a girl character. So I re-tried and re-tried, and I was still Elrond. Finally I just did the quiz again without trying to be anybody...and I'm Arwen! Yay!
